Daydreaming...

Where have I been? I have been daydreaming of this:

Colorado Springs baby. Let the countdown begin! Big D and me have been planning our "Farewell 20s!" trip and it's approaching in just a few weeks! I've hit up Joe's (RIP) and REI ("ouch" said my wallet).
But this may be the most frustrating time of the year. It's the final breath before hiking season starts. And it's usually this time of year when I venture out on hikes that are still hibernating under the snow. So frustrating. It's like nature keeping the good cookies on the highest, unreachable shelf just for a couple more months.

Take this one for example (above). I can tell it's stinking gorgeous. But after myself and The Hulster kept getting sucked under the snow up to our hips...*smirk*...sorry, I had to take a moment to laugh. Just the image of my 6'6" buddy getting one leg swallowed up by the snow up to his hips over and over again...hahaha I had to keep on crossing my legs to so I wouldn't lose my bladder control from all the laughter!
Which makes me miss MXC. We were talking about this last night. Watching people fall/hurt themselves/get hit/etc...is one of life's free joys in life. Anyone that falls in front of me is A-OK in my book (honorable mention to The Hulster).

In any case frolicking by the water never seems to disappoint. Aren't these pics stinking gorgeous? Reason #54 of why I love where geocaching takes me.

But one big stinking Congratulations to my buddy Derek! Who decided on a whim to run his first 5k - and can I just say that he rocked it?

Derek and I kept a good pace and my Garmin Forerunner helped us make sure that he meet his time goal. Before we rounded the last bend we quickly exchanged this conversation:
Krista: "Are you ready to kick it?"
Derek: "Let's see what it looks like after this corner."
And then he was gone. Like the wind. I start running faster to catch up to him and quickly look at my Garmin where it reads a pace of 7:32 - what the heck? First 5k Derek? I think not!

Here's Derek approaching the finish. Rudy! Rudy! Rudy!

Derek beat his time goal by one minute! Aw yeah! "Ring! Ring!" goes the school bell! (he's also a teacher...get it?) Thanks for letting me pop your cherry Derek! And kicking my a$$ too!!

And Champ: Thank you for being you. You make life a little more happy and cozy. Woof.

Stay tuned - in less than 30 days I'll have some very real pics of Colorado to share on here!
I know, that pic reminds me of a dooming thunderstorm w/the crazy-color setting on the camera turned on.
